  THE CARPHONE WAREHOUSE GROUP PLC ANNOUNCES MVIVA CUSTOMER
               NUMBERS AND NETWORK AGREEMENTS

The Carphone Warehouse Group PLC today announces it has
30,000 registered customers for Mviva Limited, the mobile
internet portal company jointly owned by The Carphone
Warehouse and AOL Europe (15% stake).

The Group also announces joint gateway and homepage
agreements with five leading European networks offering
shared access to Mviva and their own internet portals. This
will allow customers with WAP enabled phones to move freely
between both Mviva and the network's portal.

Launched in July 2000, Mviva is a pan-European portal
available in the UK, France, Sweden and Holland.  It will
also launch in Spain this week, with further European
rollout to follow.  The portal covers a wide range of
services including shopping, entertainment, finance,
banking, sport, news and email.  Mviva has more than 100
content providers including a wide range that are local to
individual markets as well as a number of strategic European
partnerships. Content providers include CNN, Sky News, The
Guardian, Loot, Sports.com and Abbey National.
