ANNOUNCEMENT ON ADJUSTMENTS OF TARIFFS

This announcement is made pursuant to Rule 13.09(1) of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

The National Development and Reform Commission (the 'NDRC') of the People's Republic of China (the 'PRC') recently issued a notice announcing that with effect from 20 August 2008, on-grid tariffs of coal-fired power generation enterprises nationwide would be raised by an average of 2 cents per kWh while retail tariffs collected by power grid enterprises from power users would remain unchanged. The detailed adjustment standards of on-grid tariffs for coal-fired power generation enterprises in various provincial (district and city) power grids are determined according to the magnitudes of the increases in coal price in the respective areas. Other than Tibet and Xinjiang Autonomous Region which made no adjustments, the adjustments of on-grid tariffs of coal-fired power generation enterprises in various areas range from 1 cent to 2.5 cents per kWh.

Pursuant to the approved tariffs adjustment scheme, the average on-grid tariff (inclusive of taxes, in accordance with weighted average of planned power output in 2008) of the coal-fired power generating units of Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd. (the 'Company') increased by RMB19.93 per MWh, representing an increase of approximately 5.7%.

The on-grid tariff adjustments of the respective operating coal-fired power plants of the Company and its subsidiaries are set out in the following table (effective from 20 August 2008):

Notes:     

1. As Duo He Power Plant Units 1 and 2 are part of the generating units required to be closed down by the State, no tariffs adjustment was made.
   
2. Shanxi Datang International Shentou Power Generation Company Limited and Zhejiang Datang Wushashan Power Generation Company Limited have increased tariffs by RMB15/MWh to compensate desulphurisation costs since the tariffs adjustment made on 1 July 2008.
   
3. No tariffs adjustment was made to Inner Mongolia Datang International Hohhot Thermal Power Generation Company Limited this time.
