                            CHANGE OF COMPANY'S NAME



The name of the Company has been changed from 'Beijing Datang Power Generation
Co. Ltd.' to 'Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd.' with effect from
15 March 2004.



The board of directors of Beijing Datang Power Generation Co. Ltd. (the
'Company') announces that the Company has changed its existing name to 'Datang
International Power Generation Co., Ltd.'.



Approval in respect of the change of name of the Company has been granted by the
State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People's Republic of China
on 15 March 2004 (the 'Effective Date') and the Certificate of Registration of
Change of Name has been issued by the Companies Registry in Hong Kong on 14
April 2004. Share certificates will be issued in the Company's new name on and
from 28 April 2004. Share certificates will continue to be issued in the
Company's former name (in yellow colour) before this date. Shareholders of the
Company may submit their existing share certificates of the Company to the
Company's share registrar in Hong Kong, Computershare Hong Kong Investor
Services Limited, Room 1712-1716, Hopewell Centre, 183 Queen's Road East,
Wanchai, Hong Kong, in exchange for new share certificates (in blue colour) in
the new name of the Company on payment of a fee of HK$2.50 for each new
certificate on and after 28 April 2004.



Existing share certificates of the Company issued in its former name will
continue to be valid for trading and settlement and the rights of the
shareholders in the Company will not be affected as a result of the change of
the Company's name.
