Announcement on Power Generation 

for the First Quarter of 2009

This announcement is made pursuant to Rule 13.09(2) of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

 

Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd. (the 'Company') announces that, based on the Company's preliminary statistics, as of 31 March 2009, the total power generation of the Company and its subsidiaries (the 'Group') amounted to 27.8175 billion kWh, representing a decrease of 5.08% when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The Group's total on-grid power generation was 26.128 billion kWh, representing a decrease of 5.2% when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The decrease in power generation of the Group for the first quarter of 2009 over the corresponding period of the previous year was mainly attributable to the decrease in power demand in the areas served by the Company's generating units when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
