for the First Half of 2008

This announcement is made pursuant to Rule 13.09(2) of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd. (the 'Company') announces that, based on the Company's preliminary statistics, as of 30 June 2008, the total power generation of the Company and its subsidiaries (the 'Group') for the first half of 2008 amounted to 62.2529 billion kWh, representing an increase of 11.08% when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The Group's total on-grid power generation was 58.5987 billion kWh, representing an increase of 10.96% when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The Group's power generation in the first half of 2008 reported an increase over the corresponding period of the previous year, which was mainly attributable to the increase in the capacity of the Group's operational generating units. 

In the first half of 2008, as compared to the corresponding period of 2007, the Group's new installed capacity increased by 3,812MW. Given the shut down of the power generating units at Xia Hua Yuan Power Plant with a capacity of 200MW, the Group had a net capacity increase of 3,612MW. 

During the second half of 2007 and the first half of 2008, the Group's overall power generating capacity increased due to the commencement of the newly installed power generating units of the Company's wholly-owned subsidiaries and subsidiaries as follows: Jiangxi Datang International Xinyu Power Generation Company Limited ('Xinyu Power Company'), Inner Mongolia Datang International Zhuozi Windpower Company Limited ('Zhuozi Windpower Company'), Shanxi Datang International Yuncheng Power Generation Company Limited ('Yuncheng Power Company'), Inner Mongolia Datang International Hohhot Thermal Power Generation Company Limited ('Hohhot Thermal Power Company'), Qianan Datang Thermal Power Generation Company Limited under Hebei Datang International Tangshan Thermal Power Company Limited ('Tangshan Thermal Power Company'), Chongqing Datang International Pengshui Hydropower Development Company Limited ('Pengshui Hydropower Company'), Zhiganglaka Hydropower Station under Qinghai Zhenxing-Aiyisi Power Company Limited ('Qinghai Zhenxing Power Company') , and Longma and Tukahe Hydropower Stations of Yunnan Datang International Lixianjiang Hydropower Development Company Limited ('Lixianjiang Hydropower Company').
