DCC BRANDS ITS ENVIRONMENTAL BUSINESSES IN IRELAND 'ENVA'
DCC plc, the business support services group, announces that today the Irish
Minister for Finance, Brian Cowen TD, attended at the launch of Enva as the new
corporate and brand name for DCC Environmental's businesses in Ireland formerly
known as Atlas, Envirotech and Shannon Environmental Services.
Enva is a leading edge environmental business, providing innovative, economical
and environmentally sound solutions to customers for disposing of a diverse
range of waste. It is Ireland's leading hazardous waste treatment company, with
six divisions operating from six sites across Ireland encompassing the following
areas:
• Industrial and Automotive - waste management and environmental services
for industrial and automotive processes
• Soil Treatment - contaminated soil remediation specialists
• Chemical Waste Treatment - innovative treatment and recovery solutions
for hazardous chemical waste
• Water Treatment - process, liquid and effluent technologies
• Field Services - specialist environmental services including tank/drain
cleaning and emergency response
• Foodservice Solutions - supply and recovery of cooking oil and fats
At the launch in Portlaoise of Enva, the Minister for Finance, Brian Cowen, TD,
noted the long association of the facility's owners with Portlaoise and welcomed
the Enva branding. He continued:
'The waste sector in Ireland has changed quite dramatically in the last
decade. It has rocketed to the top of the environmental agenda, right
alongside issues such as climate change and global warming. This has had
enormous implications for all of us, in both the public and the private
sectors, and has represented a great opportunity for some of the dynamic
private sector participants. It is extremely gratifying to see the fresh
thinking that's being brought to waste management. And there are many
people here today who see opportunity in waste management, and who have
had a vision in dealing responsibly with waste for many years.'
Jim Flavin, Chief Executive/Deputy Chairman of DCC plc, said today:
'DCC Environmental is a rapidly developing, newer business for DCC,
with significant growth opportunities particularly following the recent
acquisition of a 50% joint venture shareholding in the William Tracey
Group, Scotland's leading recycling and waste management business.
The branding of DCC Environmental's businesses in Ireland as a single
brand, Enva, will give added impetus to the businesses, ensuring that
both existing and new customers are aware of the range and depth of
hazardous waste services offered by DCC Environmental.
A recent Forfas report entitled 'Waste Management Benchmarking Study - A
Baseline Assessment' indicated that Ireland still exports 70% of hazardous
waste. Against this background, Enva has been investing and continues to
invest in the development of new processes to treat an ever expanding
range of waste.'
