DCC's Chief Executive and Founder Jim Flavin said:
'We are pleased to announce the co-option of Tommy Breen
(Managing Director of DCC's SerCom division), Kevin
Murray (Managing Director of DCC's Energy and Food
divisions) and Fergal O'Dwyer (Chief Financial Officer)
to DCC's Board of Directors. They each have more than
ten years experience with DCC and have made a significant
contribution to DCC's development as a leading value
added marketing and distribution group.
These new directors bring a wealth of knowledge and
experience to the Board and, along with Morgan Crowe
(Executive Director and Managing Director of DCC's
Healthcare division) and other senior members of the DCC
Group management team, will work with me in driving the
continuing growth and development of the Group.'
Tommy Breen (40), Managing Director of DCC's SerCom division
(incorporating SerCom Solutions and SerCom distribution
companies MicroP, Gem, Sharptext and Distrilogie), has been
driving the successful growth of DCC's IT businesses in
Britain and Ireland. Mr Breen is spearheading the expansion
of DCC's IT distribution businesses into continental Europe
and was instrumental in the recent acquisition of Paris-based
Distrilogie. He is also playing an important role in the
refocusing of SerCom Solutions as a supply chain management
and e-commerce fulfilment specialist providing an outsourcing
solution for leading international IT companies.
Mr Breen, who graduated with a BA in Economics from Queens
University Belfast and qualified as a chartered accountant
with KPMG Stokes Kennedy Crowley, joined DCC in October 1985.
He gained broad experience in Britain and Ireland with DCC
prior to his appointment as Managing Director of DCC's SerCom
division in 1996.
Kevin Murray (40), is Managing Director of DCC's Energy and
Food divisions. He has made a major contribution to the growth
and development of DCC's energy businesses, Flogas and Emo
Oil, since his appointment in 1996. In early 1999 he led the
acquisition by Emo Oil of the Burmah oil and petrol
distribution business in the Republic of Ireland.
Mr Murray took on the additional responsibility of Managing
Director of DCC's Food division in early 1999 and since then
has been active in the development of this division including
the acquisition of a 50% interest in the Kylemore Foods Group.
Mr Murray joined DCC in 1988 having worked with Shell
Chemicals in London and Arthur Andersen in Dublin. He
graduated as a chemical engineer at University College Dublin
and qualified as a chartered accountant having achieved first
place in the final examination of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants in Ireland.
Fergal O'Dwyer (39), joined DCC in 1989 and was appointed
Chief Financial Officer in 1994. In this role he has
implemented best practice in financial/treasury management, in
controls and reporting throughout the DCC Group. He has also
been closely involved with the financial planning and due
diligence on DCC's acquisitions and with the effective
management of the Group's working capital.
Mr O'Dwyer qualified as a chartered accountant with Price
Waterhouse in Dublin. He gained international experience with
KPMG before returning to Price Waterhouse in Dublin where he
