De La Rue PLC 30 October 2000 DE LA RUE PLC ANALYST AND SHAREHOLDER BRIEFING De La Rue plc is giving a briefing to analysts and shareholders this afternoon. The focus of the briefing will be on the Global Services division, which was set up on 2 April 2000 with five existing De La Rue businesses forming the nucleus. The objective is to provide a clear understanding of the overall strategic direction of Global Services, as well as an analysis of the activities, markets and strategies of the key constituent businesses. A brief overview will also be given of activity in the other trading divisions. As the visit is in the 'closed period' no trading update will be given. The Group's interim results will be announced on Wednesday 22 November. Key themes will be: Development of Global Services, where there is potential for significant growth, is on track. To date, activity has centred on developing the InterClear digital security offering, expanding the Transaction Services network, developing the Identity Systems and Brand Protection businesses and building divisional infrastructure and competency. Currency operations continue to differentiate themselves from the competition through the use of technology and the business is still focussed on a value not volume driven approach. Concern from customers about new counterfeiting threats continues to create opportunities for the introduction of new features. The Security Products business is concentrating on improving operational efficiency and exploiting new opportunities to work with its customer base to develop supply chain management solutions. In Cash Systems, the rationalisation plan announced on 16 March last year is now largely complete and the division is still on track to exit the year with operating margins at a running rate in excess of 10%, excluding acquisitions. The integration of Ascom Banking Automation's cash handling operations acquired in February of this year is also progressing according to plan. Copies of the presentations are available from the company on request.
