NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORSHIPS - BOARD CHANGES

De La Rue is pleased to announce the appointments of Keith Hodgkinson of
Chloride Group plc; and Michael Jeffries of W S Atkins plc as Non-Executive
directors of the company with immediate effect.

Mr Hodgkinson, 56, was appointed Chief Executive of Chloride Group plc in
1991.  Previously, he held a number of senior management positions at GEC plc
and has considerable operational experience gained from particularly the
electronics and related services sectors.

Mr Jeffries, 55, is Chief Executive of W S Atkins plc.  He has held various
senior management positions since joining the company in 1975 and has wide
ranging business to business experience, running service operations across
Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa. 

De La Rue also announces that Brian Birkenhead and Lord Wright will be
retiring as non-executive directors of the Board at the next annual general
meeting on 19 July 2000.

Commenting on the appointments Brandon Gough, Chairman said:

'The Board of De La Rue now has a well rounded mix of business and management
experience following these appointments.  Both individuals are high calibre
executives with considerable operational experience running large
international businesses.  I am sure both will make valuable contributions to
the Board and the strategic direction of the Group. I would also like to take
