De La Rue PLC 09 June 2006 DE LA RUE PLC APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR De La Rue plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Gill Rider as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 22 June 2006. Ms Rider started her career with Accenture in 1979 in various consulting roles before being appointed as a partner in 1990. Ms Rider held a variety of management roles in Accenture before being appointed global Chief Leadership Officer in 2002, reporting to the Accenture CEO, to lead the people aspects of the transition from a partnership to a public company listed on New York Stock Exchange. She was appointed Director General, Leadership and People Strategy in the Cabinet Office in May 2006. Pursuant to Article 33.1 of the Company's Articles of Association Ms Rider will automatically retire at the Company's AGM on 27 July 2006 but will offer herself for election. Biography of Gill Rider Gill Rider joined Accenture in 1979 following a PhD in Botany from the University of Southampton. Throughout the 1980s she consulted to financial companies, health, government and utilities. She became a Partner in 1990 and has since held a variety of management roles including the leadership of the Energy, Utilities, Chemicals and Natural Resources business in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. She was also appointed Chair of Accenture UK and Ireland, a position she held until 2001. In 2002 she took the position of global Chief Leadership Officer, reporting to the Accenture CEO, to lead the people side of the transition from Partnership to Public Company. Gill spent her first two years in the role focusing on the development of the leadership capabilities and professional skills of the staff, including managing the HR organisation. Reward was also a significant issue and she worked on diversity. The focus of Gill's most recent role is the development of the company's human capital strategy, and the execution of that through leadership, succession planning, change management, and corporate social responsibility. Ms Rider was appointed Director General, Leadership and People Strategy in the Cabinet Office in May 2006 to help drive strategic change within the Civil Service. Her role will include providing leadership for the Service's programmes transforming the professional skills of civil servants, developing leaders and promoting diversity.
