De La Rue Appoints New Chairman

 

De La Rue plc announces the appointment of Philip Rogerson as a non executive director with effect from 1 March 2012.  De La Rue also announces that Nicholas Brookes will retire as Chairman and as a non executive director following the Annual General Meeting on 26 July 2012.  Philip Rogerson will succeed Nicholas Brookes as Chairman on his retirement.

 

Philip Rogerson is currently Chairman of Bunzl plc, Carillion plc and Aggreko plc.  He will be stepping down from his present position as Chairman of Aggreko in April 2012.  In addition to these positions Philip has served on the boards of a broad spectrum of businesses, including as senior independent director of Davis Service Group plc (now Berendsen plc), Northgate plc (becoming Chairman in 2007) and Celltech Group plc. He has also been Chairman of Thus Group plc (prior to its acquisition by Cable & Wireless plc in 2008) and Project Telecom plc.

 

Nicholas Brookes has served on the Board of De La Rue since March 1997, including as senior non-executive director for four years before he became Chairman in July 2004.  

 

Commenting on the changes Nicholas Brookes, Chairman, said:

"Philip is a highly experienced Chairman and non executive director with considerable international experience and well proven leadership skills.  Good progress is being made on the Company's Improvement Plan and I am delighted to be handing over to such a strong and respected Chairman."

 

Philip Rogerson said:

"Nick has made a tremendous contribution to the Board during the past fourteen years.  As Chairman, he has overseen considerable change within the Company and has successfully steered it through a number of successes and challenges.  Nick has had a long and distinguished career and on behalf of the rest of the Board and all our employees, I thank him for his enormous contribution to the Company and wish him well in his retirement.

 

The other members of the Board and I are delighted that Philip has agreed to succeed Nick.  De La Rue will benefit enormously from his experience."

 

There are no further details relating to the appointment of Philip Rogerson that are disclosable under paragraph 9.6.13(1) to (6) of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
