The Board of De La Rue plc announced today that Sir Jeremy Greenstock has been
appointed as a non-executive director with effect from 1 March 2005.
Sir Jeremy, 61, is one of Britain's foremost diplomats, with a distinguished
career spanning 35 years in a variety of high profile roles. For five years,
until his retirement from HM Diplomatic Service in 2003, Sir Jeremy served as
Britain's U.N. Ambassador in New York and Permanent Representative on the U.N.

Commenting on the appointment Nicholas Brookes, Chairman of De La Rue plc said:
'Sir Jeremy is one of the finest diplomats of his generation. His wealth of
experience and high international standing, particularly after his work at the
United Nations, will prove invaluable to De La Rue, as will his knowledge of
Middle Eastern Affairs. I am sure he will make a valuable contribution to the
Board and the strategic direction of the Group.'
Although he will initially have no De La Rue Board committee appointments, Sir
