August 2001 from Barclays PLC giving notice that, in compliance with Part VI
of the Companies Act 1985, their interest in the Ordinary Shares of 25p each
of the Company is as follows:

'As at 6 August 2001, Barclays PLC, through its subsidiary Barclays Bank PLC,
no longer has an interest subject to the notification requirement of S198
Companies Act 1985'
