DE LA RUE PLC
PRE CLOSE PERIOD TRADING UPDATE
Prior to entering the close period for the half year ending 30 September 2006,
the Board of De La Rue plc issues the following trading update:
Trading during the first half has continued to be strong, supported by a high
opening order book.
In Security Paper and Print, higher base volumes of banknotes and paper together
with strong overspill levels have more than offset less favourable contract mix
and contributed to better than anticipated first half trading.
In Cash Systems, the benefits of the restructuring actions completed in the
second half of last year and continued growth in the US Teller Automation market
are expected to result in significant improvement in first half trading compared
with last year.
The strong trading in the first half gives the Board confidence for the full
year outcome. In addition, the weighting between first and second half trading
is expected to be more evenly balanced than in recent years.
