                    STATEMENT REGARDING POLICE INVESTIGATION

De La Rue confirms that a police investigation is being conducted at the
Company. We believe this is in response to allegations of corruption made by a
former employee against whom the Company has obtained a judgement for the
recovery of monies stolen from it. Further, we believe that a criminal
investigation is underway into this theft.

The Company believes the allegations made by this individual are false and we
are confident that the matter will be resolved quickly and we are cooperating
fully to ensure a swift resolution of this matter.
