MIKE BLACKBURN JOINS DFS AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mike Blackburn has been appointed a non-executive director of DFS Furniture
Company plc with effect from 14 October 1999.
Mike Blackburn, who is 57, is non-executive Vice Chairman of Halifax plc,
where he was Chief Executive from 1993-98 and led its conversion to plc
status. He was previously Chief Executive of the Leeds Permanent Building
Society from 1987-93 and of The Joint Credit Card Company (Access) from 1983-
87, having begun his career with Lloyds Bank in 1962. He is also Deputy
Chairman of Town Centre Securities plc, a director of Jacobs Holdings plc and
of George Wimpey PLC.
Graham Kirkham, Executive Chairman of DFS, said: 'I am truly delighted that
we have been able to secure a businessman of Mike's stature as our third non-
executive director. I have no doubt that his long experience of finance and
the City will enable him to make an exceptional contribution to our Board.'
