We are writing to notify you pursuant to the Disclosure of Interests in Shares
(Amendment) Regulations 1993 (SI 1993 No. 1819) of our interest in investment 
holdings in the ordinary share capital of D.F.S. Furniture Company plc.  
Following a purchase of 61,600 shares on February 13, 2004, accounts managed
by Harris Associates L.P. became the beneficial owners of 5,384,400 shares of 
D.F.S. Furniture Company plc.  This represents a 5.03% ownership of the company
and an increase above the 5% substantial shareholder threshold.  The following
