We are writing to notify you pursuant to the Disclosure of Interests in Shares
(Amendment) Regulations 1993 (SI 1993 No. 1819) of our interest in investment
holdings in the ordinary share capital of D.F.S. Furniture Company plc.
Following a sale of 1,740,000 shares on July 22,2004, accounts managed by Harris
Associates L.P. became the beneficial owners of 3,234,200 shares of D.F.S.
Furniture Company plc. This represents a 3.01% ownership of the company and a
decrease below the 4% substantial shareholder  threshold  

  
Percentages are based on 107,538,989 outstanding issued ordinary shares. All
holdings of the ordinary capital of D.F. S Furniture Company plc are for
