JONATHAN SYMONDS APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF THE AUDIT COMMITTEE

Diageo announces that further to the announcement on 19 February 2004, Jonathan
Symonds, a non-executive director, was appointed yesterday as chairman of the
audit committee, with effect from the end of the Annual General Meeting held on
20 October 2004.

Mr Symonds is chief financial officer of AstraZeneca PLC and became a
non-executive director of Diageo on 1 May 2004.
