Diageo plc (the 'Company') announces that it received notification on 11
December 2000 for the purposes of Section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 that
Prudential plc is interested in 102,436,656 of the Company's ordinary shares
of 28 101/108 pence ('Ordinary Shares'). This represents 3.00% of the
Company's issued ordinary capital. The names of the registered holders and
the number of Ordinary Shares held by each of them is as follows:
