Chairman's Statement - Annual General Meeting 2000
The Chairman of The Roxboro Group PLC, the Cambridge based
controls technology group, Sir Alan Cockshaw, has made the
following statement on current trading at the Company's Annual
General Meeting held today at The City of London Club:
'I am very pleased to be able to confirm my comments made in
the preliminary statement on 13 March that the trading outlook
for Roxboro remains positive.'
'Order intake has continued to increase since the beginning of
the year, with the Group order book on a like for like basis
up 28%, and including Mobrey, (acquired in Jan 2000) up 53%.
Overall the Group has enjoyed a strong first quarter's
trading, with profits ahead of budget.'
'The integration of Mobrey and Solartron is proceeding well
and is on target to meet our objectives. The relocation of
Solartron from its Farnborough site to the Crawley and Slough
locations is progressing well and will be completed to
schedule. The planned annual savings, a proportion of which
will benefit the second half of this year, will be achieved in
full, but at less cost than was originally anticipated. Both
Solartron and Mobrey are currently trading profitably and are
ahead of budget.'
'The board anticipates the sale and lease-back of the building
to be occupied by Weston on the Farnborough site and the sale
of the remainder of the site for development during the
current year. Unsolicited offers have already been received
for the site.'
'The Board continues to be confident of Roxboro's prospects.'
