                             REDEMPTION OF B SHARES

Dialight plc (the 'Company') announces that 2,644 of the redeemable
non-cumulative preference shares of 75 pence each in the capital of the Company
('B Shares') were redeemed on 31 December 2007.  Accordingly, a total of
53,903,834 B Shares, representing 94.90 per cent. of the B Shares originally in
issue, have now been redeemed in accordance with the terms and conditions
attaching to the B Shares. The Company may, at its discretion, redeem the
remaining 2,896,336 B Shares at any time and will be obliged to do so no later
than 31 December 2008.

Payment on the B Shares redeemed on 31 December 2007 will be settled through the
CREST system or, for certificated holders, cheques will be despatched, no later
than 10 January 2008.
