Appointment of Non Executive Director

Diploma PLC, the specialised international distribution group, today announces 
the appointment of John Matthews FCA (aged 58) as a Non-Executive Director to 
the Board of Diploma PLC.

John is currently Chairman of Crest Nicholson plc and Regus plc. He is also a
Non-Executive Director of Rotork plc, SDL plc and Allied International 
Healthcare Inc. He had previously been a Managing Director of County Natwest and 
Deputy Chairman/Deputy Chief Executive of Beazer plc.

Commenting on his appointment, Chris Thomas, Chairman of Diploma PLC said:

'I am delighted that John will be joining our Board and look forward to the 
experience he will bring to the Company'.
