Appointment of new Finance Director
The Board of Drax Group plc ('Drax' or the 'Company') is pleased to announce that Anthony ('Tony') James Quinlan has been appointed as Finance Director. His appointment will take effect on 1 September 2008. Tony will succeed Gordon Boyd, whose decision to leave the Company in the second half of the year was announced on 4 March 2008.
Tony has spent the past 16 years at Marks & Spencer plc in a variety of roles, including establishing an investor relations function, and since 2005 was the Director of Financial Control. Prior to that he had been with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), accountants, since graduating from University.
Commenting on the appointment Charles Berry, Chairman of Drax, said: 'The Directors are delighted to welcome Tony to the Board of Drax. Tony brings to the Board extensive experience and knowledge of working within the plc environment, is a highly commercial senior finance professional with significant experience and particular strengths in corporate finance, financial control and investor relations.'
There are no further matters which are required to be disclosed under Rule 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority.

About Tony Quinlan
Tony (aged 43) graduated from Aberystwyth University in 1987 with a joint degree in Chemistry and Business Studies. Upon graduating, he joined the Birmingham office of Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC).
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Tony joined Marks & Spencer in 1992, where he held senior finance positions in audit, corporate finance and commercial finance. He established the Investor Relations function in 2000 and in recent years was the Director of Financial Control, the number two to the Group Finance Director.
