Drax received a notification yesterday, from Ameriprise Financial, Inc and its
group of which Threadneedle Asset Management Holdings Limited is the ultimate
holding company in the UK, advising that as at the close of business on 15
January 2007, the interest of Ameriprise Financial, Inc in the ordinary share
capital of Drax had fallen below 10% and as such Ameriprise Financial, Inc no
longer has a notifiable interest in Drax.

Prior to this notification the last stated holding of Ameriprise Financial, Inc,
as announced on 27 December 2006, was of 10.99% of the ordinary share capital of
Drax.

The number of ordinary shares of Drax currently in issue is 368,921,151.
