Drax Group plc announces that on 4 October 2007 it purchased for cancellation
470,000 of its ordinary shares at an average price of 612.35 pence per share.

Following the purchase and upon cancellation of these shares, the number of
ordinary shares with voting rights in issue will be 346,535,804.
