On 20 December, the European Commission adopted a legislative proposal on the
inclusion of aviation in the EU Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) from 2011.
easyJet has welcomed the move, as ETS is a market-based mechanism which should
provide an incentive for airlines to operate modern aircraft in the most
efficient way.  easyJet flies new aircraft having an average age of 2.2 years at
30 September 2006, with high seat density and passenger loads, which result in
30% fewer emissions per passenger kilometre than a traditional airline.

airline, and once a flight has departed a no-show customer is generally not
entitled to change flights or seek a refund. Earned seats also include seats
provided for promotional purposes and to staff for business travel.

available for passengers. No weighting of the load factor is carried out to
recognise the effect of varying flight (or 'stage') lengths.
