Thomson Intermedia secures exclusive access to Northcliffe and Johnston Press
regional portfolios
Thomson Intermedia, a leading provider of media intelligence, has secured
separate deals with Northcliffe Newspaper Group ('Northcliffe') and Johnston
Press plc ('Johnston') to access at least 350 regional publications. Both deals
run for three years, are exclusive to Thomson Intermedia and together will
significantly enhance the Company's coverage of the UK's regional newspapers.
Thomson Intermedia is driving the development of information systems that
provide critical data and transparency to the marketing industry. The Company
has developed a revolutionary system that captures some 20,000 advertisement
placements daily, across every media platform. Thomson Intermedia's Press
Monitoring and Advertising Verification services enable advertisers to verify
whether advertisements have run, recover lost advertising spend and analyse
competitor marketing activity.
These two strategically important deals with major UK media groups will enable
Thomson to enhance significantly its Press Monitoring and Advertising
Verification services by adding some 30% of the UK's regional newspapers to its
extensive media monitoring capabilities. Thomson Intermedia, Northcliffe and
Johnston Press are together working to provide greater insight and efficiency
within the regional press advertising market.
These contract wins will place Thomson Intermedia at the forefront of media
monitoring, being the only Company to provide comprehensive, real time and
in-depth analysis of the UK Advertising market place.
Sarah Jane Thomson, Joint Chief Executive Officer of Thomson Intermedia, said:
'This will substantially enhance the transparency of the regional and local
advertising markets for our customers and opens up opportunities for Thomson
Intermedia to provide media intelligence to advertisers in the £3bn regional
press market.
'The rights to this vast amount of regional media were secured through working
closely with Johnston Press and Northcliffe to understand the needs of the
advertising agencies and will further strengthen our position and profile in the
UK media monitoring market. We are pioneers in the development of real time
media information and intelligence and are focused on providing essential tools
to Marketers.'
Danny Cammiade, Chief Operating Officer of Johnston Press, said:
'We are pleased to be entering this agreement with Thomson Intermedia which will
enable us to provide a significantly enhanced service to the advertising
agencies and allow them to operate in a more cost effective and efficient
manner.'
Steve Anderson-Dixon, Group Advertisement Director of Northcliffe Newspapers
Group, said:
'Our relationship with Thomson Intermedia will enable us to deliver information
for advertisers, utilising cutting edge technology. Our belief is that such
media intelligence will strengthen our position as the first choice local news
and information partner in each of Northcliffe's local communities.'
