365 Corporation plc wins large BBC CHOICE commission for eight part Digital TV
series
365 Corporation plc ('365') the provider of content, community and
communications services across multiple digital platforms announces that it
has been commissioned by BBC CHOICE, the BBC's entertainment channel for
digital viewers, to produce a major, celebrity-led TV series in the run-up to
the Euro 2000 football tournament.
The eight-part series, provisionally entitled 'Mark Owen's Celebrity Vespas',
is due to begin airing in May 2000 and is the core of BBC CHOICE's coverage of
Euro 2000.
The programme will follow Mark Owen, former singer with the group Take That
and famous football fan, plus up to seven other celebrities on a journey
through Belgium and Holland, the host nations for the tournament, visiting the
eight towns and cities where Euro 2000 will take place. The celebrities will
travel through Europe on Vespa scooters.
Following the impact of the 365 production of Mike Tyson in the UK, also made
for BBC CHOICE, 'Mark Owen's Celebrity Vespas' is one of the largest
commissions so far awarded by the channel. The commission represents another
important step in 365's strategy of creating high quality, unique content
across multiple digital platforms, in order to generate significant revenues.
In addition to the TV series 365 will produce unique content available on the
365 network of websites. Football365, Music365 and the new Euro 2000 site will
host content planned to include celebrity-led guides and their reviews of the
football venues, specially commissioned pictures, video and audio clips, and
celebrity top tens
BBC CHOICE is now available via digital satellite and digital terrestrial to
10 million viewers and from April will increasingly provide refreshing,
unpredictable entertainment television.
Commenting on the commission, Dan Thompson CEO of 365 said:
'We are delighted to be working with BBC CHOICE on this major new series. The
commission allows us to draw on our expertise and experience in both the sport
and entertainment fields, and in multi-platform delivery, as well as bringing
strong additional revenue to the group.'
Stuart Murphy, Head of Programming, BBC CHOICE said:
'BBC CHOICE will increasingly be setting the pace for aggressive and
innovative TV in the digital environment and we are delighted to be working
with 365 on another inventive entertainment series.'
