Creation of soccer365.com & Fox Sponsorship Deal
365 Corporation PLC
10 February 2000
365 Corporation creates www.soccer365.com
and announces supporting US television
Sponsorship deal with Fox Sports, the leading soccer broadcaster in the US
www.soccer365.com is launched today by 365 Corporation plc ('365'), creators
of the leading online football service www.football365.com (English language)
and www.futbol365.com (Spanish language). Initially acting as an English and
Spanish language hub to introduce North American Internet users to the
company's existing multi-lingual football services, Soccer365 will be
developed rapidly into a stand-alone site to exploit the commercial potential
of the US market.
Coinciding with the launch of the new service, 365 and Fox Sports
International have agreed to an on-air advertising deal covering the US
broadcasters' soccer programming. This will mean that (within the deal)
Soccer365 will be promoted on:
+ Fox Sports World is broadcast in the English language and covers Italian
Serie A, English Premier League, German Bundesliga and tournament football
such as the FA and UEFA Cup competitions.
+ Fox Sports World Espanol, a U.S. based Spanish language network that covers
the Argentinean, Mexican, Brazilian, Colombian leagues together with South and
Central American football and European football.
The sponsorship deal means that the new www.socccer365.com URL will be
promoted in around 50% of the Network's total football TV programming. The
broadcaster has US rights to the English Premiership, the FA and UEFA Cups.
The deal will last initially for 12 months from today, with an annual option
to renew thereafter.
Simon Morris, Marketing Director of 365 Corporation, said:
'North America is clearly a key market for soccer and having examined various
options to increase our presence, we've opted to create a tailor-made service
and support it locally.
'365 will utilise its multi-language content to create soccer365.com. For
example, we will provide US Internet soccer fans with English and Spanish
language content, while quickly developing local news and features in the 365
style. We intend to monetise the audience through our local office in the US
under the general management of Bernard Frei, through revenue streams
including advertising and e-commerce.'
Bernard Frei, CEO of e-Merchants Inc (365 Corporation's wholly owned US
subsidiary) who will be running Soccer365, said:
'The deal further strengthens 365's position in the U.S. sports sector. Our
existing arrangement with Fox Sports World sees RugbyRugby.com promoted during
all Fox rugby broadcasts in the USA. We believe that with the combination of
the huge potential audience, 365's strong track record in football and the use
of the leading US soccer broadcaster, Soccer365 will be very well received.'
