Eckoh wins 2-year exclusive Speech Contract with
Ideal Shopping Direct
• 2-year exclusive contract to supply Ideal Shopping Direct with speech
recognition based data collection solutions
• Eckoh to take over all Ideal Shopping Direct's inbound telephony
requirements
Eckoh Technologies ("Eckoh"), one of Europe's leading speech application service
providers, today announced an exclusive 2 year contract to supply Ideal Shopping
Direct ("Ideal Shopping"), the UK's leading independent home shopping TV
channel, with speech recognition based data capture solutions.
Ideal Shopping required a speech application provider that had the necessary
hosting capacity and was robust enough to manage many thousands of orders while
simultaneously processing these using speech recognition. Eckoh's large call
processing platform, with over 6,500 lines of speech recognition capacity,
combined with their track record of operating high volume speech applications,
made Eckoh the natural choice.
The highly advanced speech recognition service to be designed and hosted by
Eckoh, will be an end-to-end solution which will allow a caller to place an
order, pay for a product and participate in a bespoke customer questionnaire
relating to the product they are purchasing, without needing to speak to a live
agent at any point. The service is expected to launch in the Autumn as part of a
major new live show.
In addition to the agreement which commenced in late May, Eckoh will also
control the management of all inbound call traffic on behalf of Ideal Shopping
with call volumes expected to be around 15 million minutes per annum.
Furthermore, Eckoh will also supply Ideal Shopping with ad hoc IVR and SMS
competition line services.
Nik Philpot, Chief Operating Officer for Eckoh, said: "Ideal Shopping has grown
enormously in recent times consistently showing an innovative approach to their
target audience and we are excited to partner with them on this new ground
breaking project. This speech recognition solution will clearly demonstrate that
our speech platform is not only capable of performing extremely complex tasks
but can do so under the pressure of live television, catering for thousands of
simultaneous users."
Andrew Fryatt, Chief Operating Officer for Ideal Shopping Direct, commented: "
Once it became apparent that it would be both impractical and hugely costly for
Ideal Shopping to fulfil this project without call automation, we started
looking for a suitable long term partner in this area. We were hugely impressed
by Eckoh's credentials having proved that they can successfully deliver a
variety of speech solutions in many market sectors and having a depth of
experience in managing live television formats. We look forward to launching
our new show in conjunction with Eckoh and seeing the benefits first hand of
what speech can deliver".
