                            Appointment of Director



Anglo Pacific Group plc ('the Company') announces that, effective today, 9th
February 2006, it has appointed Mr Michael Atkinson as a non-executive director
of the Company.  Mr Atkinson has had a distinguished career at the DTI and
Department of Energy and was Chairman of British Coal Corporation for several
years.  His considerable experience in coal and coal energy make him a useful
addition to the Board.  There is no further information required to be disclosed
with regard to the aforementioned pursuant to Chapter 9.6.13 of the Listing
Rules.
