On 16 August 1999, The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc bought back a further
525,000 ordinary shares for cancellation at an average price of 491.9p.
Following the buy back, there are 286,373,471 ordinary shares in issue. The
share buy-back will be financed out of the capital reserve.
