                            Appointment of Director

The Board of Edinburgh Worldwide Investment Trust plc is pleased to announce the
appointment of Mr Jake Leslie Melville as a Director of the Company with effect
from 1 August 2007.

Mr Leslie Melville, who is 37, is a partner at Booz Allen Hamilton, and
currently leads all of their European energy and utilities activity.

His appointment falls to be ratified at the 2008 Annual General Meeting of the
Company.

There are no disclosures required under Listing Rule 9.6.13.
