NEW BOARD APPOINTMENTS AT ELEMENTIS plc
Elementis plc, the specialty chemicals Group, today 28 July 2000,
announces two new appointments to the Board with immediate effect.
Philip Brown, Company Secretary, has been appointed as an Executive
Director of the Company. Philip, a Chartered Secretary, joined Harrisons
and Crosfield plc in 1992 and played a major role in the corporate
restructuring to create Elementis plc. He was previously with Ranks
Hovis McDougall plc where he was involved in both company secretarial and
M&A activities.
In addition to his role as Company Secretary, Philip, (52), has
responsibility for legal affairs and risk management for Elementis.
Rick McNeel has been appointed as a Non-executive Director of the
Company. Rick McNeel is currently Group Vice President of Performance
Products within the chemicals business of BP Amoco p.l.c., with
responsibility for sales of around $3.4 billion and over 10,000 people
internationally. He is also a member of the BP Chemicals Executive
Committee.
Rick McNeel worked for Amoco for nearly 30 years before its merger with
BP. He started his career in process engineering before moving on to
work in operations, planning and manufacturing. Mr McNeel, (54), is a US
citizen and lives in London.
Jonathan Fry, Chairman of Elementis plc, said,
'The appointment of Philip Brown and Rick McNeel adds a significant range
of skills to the Board. In particular, Philip's transaction experience
and Rick's 30 year career in the chemical industry, working for one of
the world's largest integrated energy companies, will be very valuable
assets.'
