NEW HEAD OF ELEMENTIS SPECIALTIES APPOINTED
Neil Carr has been promoted to President of Elementis Specialties based in
Hightstown, US, with effect from 19 June 2000.
Neil (37) joined Elementis plc in August 1998 as Group Director of Human
Resources. Prior to joining Elementis, he was with SmithKline Beecham plc
where he was most recently Human Resource Director, World Wide Supply
Operations. Neil's appointment follows Charles Tuchel's decision to leave
Elementis to take up a new position.
In addition to his HR role, Neil had responsibility for a number of other
initiatives for Elementis plc. He was manager of a Group-wide business
process re-engineering project, headed the Group's IS function and is
involved in developing the Group's e-commerce plans. Neil holds a degree in
Economics from Cardiff University and an MBA from Kingston Business School.
Commenting on the appointment, Lyndon Cole said,
'Neil has a very clear understanding of the Group and the dynamics of the
specialty chemicals sector and has demonstrated his exceptional
organisational ability and strong leadership.
'He joins a dedicated team of industry experts in Elementis Specialties and
with them will drive the business as it moves into the next phase of its
development.'
