Enterprise Oil Board Appointment

Enterprise Oil today announces that, with effect from 1 February 2001, Paul B.
Loyd, Jr will be joining the Board as a non-executive director.  Mr Loyd, aged
54, has spent 30 years in the offshore drilling industry and was until its
recent take-over Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of R&B Falcon
Corporation, the world's largest and most diversified offshore drilling
company.

Mr Loyd serves on the Board of two public companies in the United States of
America, Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. and Frontier Oil Corporation.  He also serves
on the Board of Trustees for Southern Methodist University.  

The company further announced that effective 1 March 2001, Mark J White will
become Company Secretary. Vivien Gaymer who has been Company Secretary since
September 1991 is taking early retirement at the end of February.  Mark White,
40, a solicitor of 15 years standing, has been Deputy Company Secretary since
February 1999. He was formerly Company Secretary of Rotork p.l.c.

Enterprise in several roles. As Head of Legal Affairs, then Company Secretary
and until recently also Head of Human Resources she has provided the Board
with wise counsel and the group as a whole with her enthusiasm and wide
experience. I believe Mark White will provide us with the continuity the
company requires in this key post. Mark brings his considerable experience of
company law to the post and I wish him well.' 

There are no matters relating to Mr Loyd which would require disclosure under
paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.
