Enterprise Oil correction to Financial Times article
Enterprise Oil would like to correct the article appearing in today's
Financial Times regarding the Corrib gas project offshore the West Coast of
Ireland, which gave a misleading report on the current status of the
development.
The article suggests that the European Commission is seeking to block the
project as a result of the co-venturers' earlier request for an exemption from
the Commission in order to market gas jointly. As a press release from the
European Commission today has made clear this is not the case. The Commission
has merely closed its investigation as a result of the co-venturers' current
plans to market gas individually, leading to their withdrawal of the request,
a move the Commission welcomes in its announcement today. There is no
possibility that the project will be blocked or delayed as a result of its
investigation.
Enterprise Energy Ireland, a subsidiary of Enterprise Oil and operator of
Corrib, and its co-venturers, Statoil and Marathon, continue to progress the
project and look forward to working with the local community and all relevant
authorities to make Corrib a success.
Ends.
