                      Investment in TMO Renewables Limited

The Board of Ethanol Investments plc ('EI' or the 'Company'), the AIM-quoted
bio-fuels investment company, is pleased to announce that it has agreed to
subscribe for 7,195 ordinary shares at £69.48 each in a pre-IPO placing by TMO
Renewables Limited ('TMO'), for a total consideration of approximately £500,000.
The subscription is part of a pre-IPO placing by TMO. On closing of this
financing round, which is expected at the end of January, EI will hold less than
5% per cent of the enlarged share capital of TMO.

TMO, founded in 2002 and based in Surrey, is a world leader in novel ethanol
fermentation technology. TMO's unique technology enables the production of
bio-ethanol by means of a new fermentation technique, aimed at biomass
feedstocks such as straw, with significantly higher yields and lower investment
- resulting in lower costs than current bio-ethanol production processes. TMO is
undertaking the pre-IPO fundraising for the development of a production-scale
plant and for more research and development of its proprietary thermophile
portfolio. As of TMO's last audited year end (December 2005), the company had
net assets of £3.65m and made a loss of £1.3m.
