Enition Concludes First Joint Sale with IBM and Strengthens Relationship
with IBM
Enition today announces that CDE Solutions, its principal trading subsidiary,
has concluded a joint software solution sale with IBM to Shimadzu Corporation
('Shimadzu'), one of the world's leading manufacturers of Life Sciences
analytical instrumentation.
Shimadzu develops and manufactures analytical systems for chromatography,
spectroscopy and environmental analysis. Its products are used in laboratories
in industry, science and governmental institutions across the world. The
company, founded in 1875, employs over 7,800 staff and has offices in 70
countries including the UK.
The software solution is based on IBM's DiscoveryLink and DB2 Information
Integrator software, and Resolution from CDE Solutions. It provides a 'data
integration' platform which will be used by Shimadzu Research Laboratory
(Europe) to create a 'virtual' Life Sciences information database, capable of
live access to global research data stored in a variety of disparate industry
databases, locations and formats, including Swiss-Prot, GenBank and PubMed. This
will deliver significant productivity gains for Shimadzu researchers, allowing
new products to be developed and brought to market more quickly. It will also
enable the company to enhance data quality assurance to meet tough industry
compliance regulations.
CDE Solutions has also been accepted into IBM's Value Advantage Plus (VAP)
Program. The VAP Program gives an additional financial incentive for resellers
to purchase Resolution and IBM data software products as a bundle with the
incentive being funded by IBM.
Commenting, Ray Dutton, Chief Executive said:
'CDE Solutions' upgrade to the invitation-only Value Advantage Plus Program is a
key milestone for the business and it really helps set us apart from potential
competitors who have yet to advance beyond Global Partner status. Not only is
our visibility and value elevated within IBM's international sales
infrastructure, but achieving such a high level of endorsement from IBM will
also strengthen our proposition to customers - as evidenced with the joint sale
to Shimadzu.
'Several other companies are at an advanced stage of trials with our innovative
technology and I hope to be able to report further successes by CDE Solutions in
the near future.'

About CDE Solutions
CDE Solutions is a leading developer of data integration solutions for corporate
compliance.
Its Resolution technology provides an enterprise-wide platform for managing
every aspect of compliance from information integration and process deployment
to reporting and policy enforcement.
Resolution's innovative metadata map, together with an intuitive drag & drop
interface, lets business analysts quickly and easily connect data stored in
silos (e.g. central databases, local spreadsheets and department application
files) and create common processes and business rules that can be federated
across the enterprise.
With Resolution, organisations can:
• Regain control - Resolution removes technology barriers to and
drives out the cost and complexity of corporate, statutory and regulatory
compliance. Businesses can gain better visibility and control of their
operations through enhanced reporting and, in turn, ensure that compliance
and best practice policies are enforced from the bottom up;
• Increase business agility - Front-line business units gain real-time
access to local and corporate data, regardless of its source, location or
technology. Resolution creates a framework for collaboration, reduces the
risk of data duplication and removes the need for manual consolidation of
information;
• Enhance the business value delivered by existing IT assets -
Resolution adds a non-invasive layer to an organisation's existing data
architecture, enabling it to deploy new business processes faster and more
effectively using existing IT systems and applications.
CDE Solutions works with a select number of blue-chip deployment partners,
including IBM. Resolution has been implemented in customer organisations across
the UK and the Nordics, including Norcosse and the Lovisenburg hospital complex.
The company was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in London, UK. It is
wholly-owned by Enition plc, an AIM-listed business.
