Transaction in own shares

EPE Special Opportunities plc (the "Company") announces today that on the 15^th December 2011 it purchased 8,000 shares of 5 pence each ("Ordinary Shares") at an average price of 40.0 pence per share. The Company intends to hold the purchased shares in treasury.

The number of Ordinary Shares in issue following the above (excluding treasury shares), and the figure to be used as the denominator for calculations of interests in the Company's voting rights is 30,588,335 Ordinary Shares.
