Transaction in own shares

EPE Special Opportunities plc (the "Company") announces today that on the 6 January 2012 it purchased 13,000 shares of 5 pence each ("Ordinary Shares") at an average price of 42.5 pence per share. The Company intends to hold the purchased shares in treasury.

The number of Ordinary Shares in issue following the above (excluding treasury shares), and the figure to be used as the denominator for calculations of interests in the Company's voting rights is 30,477,224 Ordinary Shares.
