APPOINTMENT OF GROUP COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR

Filtrona plc ("Filtrona" or "the Company") today announces the appointment of Malcolm Waugh as Group Commercial Director, with effect from 1^st January 2012.  Malcolm is currently Managing Director of Payne Tear Tape in the Company's Coated & Security Products division, a role he has held since joining Filtrona in 2007.  Prior to this, Malcolm was Commercial Director for Tetra Pak UK and Ireland, with an 18 year career there in a variety of business development and commercial positions.

In his role as Group Commercial Director, Malcolm will be responsible for identifying and promoting commercial development opportunities, both within existing businesses and across divisions, to help drive revenue growth.  He will also champion the Company's e-commerce strategy, as well as represent Filtrona to principal customers, suppliers and markets where appropriate. 

Malcolm will report to Colin Day, Chief Executive of Filtrona, and will join the Company's Group Management Committee.
