FILTRONA PLC TO BE RE-BRANDED ESSENTRA PLC

The Board of Filtrona plc ("Filtrona" or "the Company") today announces that, with effect from Wednesday 26 June 2013, Filtrona plc will be renamed Essentra plc.

Essentra, an abstract name, was specifically chosen to capture what each of Filtrona's businesses manufactures and supplies; namely millions of small but essential components which often play a critical enabling role in the products of the Company's customers, everywhere and every day.  The selection of a new brand for Filtrona has taken over a year of planning, extensive research and testing, and it is considered that the new identity of Essentra best represents the Company's activities and products.

As part of its Vision 2015 strategy, the Company has progressively been creating a more unified culture, working together in a more co-ordinated way across the Company rather than down the divisions so as to leverage the Group's collective skills and capabilities more effectively.  The Essentra brand will be adopted by each of Filtrona's businesses, representing a change from the current situation where the Filtrona name and logo is used by some but not all.  It is intended that the respective businesses will adopt the Essentra identity during the second half of the year, with a view that the roll-out will be completed by the end of 2013.  As such, Filtrona's re-branding to Essentra is an important and logical milestone on the Company's path to achieving its Vision 2015 objectives.

The re-branding to Essentra is expected to have the following benefits:

For our customers: greater visibility as to the benefits of the Company's entire product and service offering, with more co-ordinated communication behind a single visual identity.

For our people: a more cohesive and engaging culture, aligned around a vibrant, forward-looking and dynamic corporate brand.

For our investors: a common platform behind which the entire organisation can mobilise, so as to continue to deliver sustained balanced profitable growth.

With effect from Wednesday 26 June 2013, Filtrona's London Stock Exchange ("LSE") Tradable Instrument Display Mnemonic ("TIDM") will change from FLTR.L to ESNT.L.  Essentra plc shares will continue to be traded on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.  The Company's ISIN and SEDOL numbers, being GB00B0744359 and B074435 GB respectively, will remain unchanged.

Shareholdings are unaffected by the name change, and existing share certificates should be retained, as they will remain valid for all purposes.  Any new share certificates issued after 26 June 2013 will bear the name Essentra plc.

With effect from Wednesday 26 June 2013, the Company's Coated & Security Products division will be renamed as Packaging & Securing Solutions, to better reflect the division's business activities following the recent acquisition of Contego Healthcare Limited.

Essentra plc will announce its half year results for the six months ending 30 June 2013 on Wednesday 31 July 2013.

Commenting on today's announcement, Colin Day, Chief Executive, said:

"It is eight years to the day since Filtrona came into existence as a UK plc, yet we have never shared a common identity - neither internally nor externally.  While each of our businesses manufactures and distributes a diverse and ostensibly unconnected range of products, what unites us as a Company is that we are a leading supplier of essential components to our customers.  Indeed, through working in a more co-ordinated way and leveraging our collective skills and capabilities under a single brand, we can benefit all our stakeholders and be an even more relevant partner to them.  As such, we believe that Essentra clearly encapsulates what the Company does, is and aspires to be."
