NOTIFICATION OF DIRECTORS' SHARE TRANSACTIONS



The company has today been informed of the following transaction in the
company's ordinary shares of 40p by directors:

        Richard Palmer has today purchased 6,400 shares at a price of 122p each
        and a further 10,700 shares at a price of 123p each

        Ann Wilson has today purchased 8,100 shares at a price of 122p each and
        a further 6,800 shares at a price of 123p each.

As a result of the above transactions, those directors' shareholdings are now:

        Richard Palmer 455,843 shares (0.86% of the total issued share capital)

        Ann Wilson 332,606 shares (0.62% of the total issued share capital).
