ADF expands presence in emerging Scottish Film and TV market
Facilities by ADF, the leading provider of premium serviced production facilities to the UK film and high-end television (HETV) industry, today announces the opening of its new office in Glasgow, set in Pioneer Film Studios' campus, Scotland's newest and largest film studio.
Pioneer Film Studios stands at over 1.2 million square feet, providing studio space, workshop areas, backlot/yards, and training facilities which includes editing suites and production office space. The facility is in the heart of Glasgow enabling ADF to provide local support in the region and will provide the Group with direct access to the range of productions scheduled to be filmed at Pioneer.
ADF opened the new office in response to the recent growth in the film and HETV market in Scotland which has witnessed extensive studio space expansion and inward investment as global productions increasingly choose the country's natural landscape and strong creative sector. Amazon recently invested £50 million in Pyramids Studios at Bathgate's Pyramids Business Park, which hosted the likes of Trainspotting T2, and in March 2022, Screen Scotland reported that the country's film and television sector could be worth £1bn by 2030. As such, the new base will not only strengthen the Group's regional presence alongside global production companies, with the support of Pioneer Films Studio, ADF will also be able to capitalise on the growing activity in one of the largest emerging markets within the UK Film and TV industry.
Marsden Proctor, Chief Executive of Facilities by ADF, commented:
"We have seen the UK Film and HETV industry become a major force on the global stage, and the trend will only continue to rise. As the market continues to grow, we are fortunate to benefit from first-mover advantage in Scotland where we view as the next chapter in this exciting story. The new office represents the strategic expansion of the Group and aids our vision to become a One-Stop-Shop for Film and high-end TV production. Pioneer Film Studios' campus is an excellent hub for us to integrate, connect and expand our offering, in parallel with complimentary services. We look forward to the opportunities this partnership with Pioneer will bring."
Jamie McCoy, Digital Director & Co-Founder of Pioneer Film Studios, added:
"We are excited to welcome ADF to our campus as Scotland increasingly becomes a hub for high-end productions. The industry in Scotland is ready to explode in terms of growth and we're delighted that ADF recognise this and have chosen Pioneer Film Studios as their Scottish base. This partnership with ADF is a key step on that journey for the Scottish industry. The new partnership will help to establish the community at Pioneer and to promote significant growth opportunities for all our partners, further demonstrating the region's growing influence in the UK film sector."

ADF's production fleet is made up of premium mobile make-up, costume and artiste trailers, production offices, mobile bathrooms (known as honey wagons), diners, school rooms and technical vehicles. The Group provides these production facilities and additional services after a planning process with the customer held well in advance of filming. In servicing productions, ADF staff are available on site and each production is allocated an account manager who acts as a single lead point of contact during filming.
The Group serves customers in an industry that has experienced significant growth in recent years, with additional demand driven by a material rise in the consumption of film and HETV content via streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney and Amazon Prime. The UK film and TV industry has directly benefited during this growth due to the quality of its production facilities and studios, highly skilled domestic workforce, geography, accessibility to Europe, English language environment and strong governmental support.
