fastjet goes live on Global Distribution Systems
Travel agents across the world now have access to fastjet flights
fastjet, Africa's low cost airline, is delighted to announce that on Friday 17th January 2014 its integration with Hahn Air Systems' e-alliance® product was successfully completed and fastjet flights are now accessible through all key Global Distribution Systems (GDS), including Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport.
Following the successful integration, over 91,000 travel agents and tour operators worldwide can now access the entire fastjet network, , either via the airline's dedicated agent portal or through a GDS of their choice.
Commenting on the successful launch, fastjet's Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Bodin said
"This is another big step for fastjet; facilitating access via GDS will ensure that important travel trade booking channels are properly supported and agents from across the world can easily book our seats.
"Since going live on Friday we have already seen a flurry of bookings via the new system, with sales enquiries coming in from as far afield as China, Australia and the United States."
Bookings via travel agents currently account for approximately 22% of fastjet's sales, however, as with other low cost carriers, the cost of sale via third parties is distributed in such a way as to ensure that the airline maintains a low distribution cost.
