FBD Holdings plc ('FBD') received notification today, 31st May, 2005, that Bank
of Ireland Asset Management Limited has a notifiable interest of  4,449,367
ordinary shares in the capital of FBD representing  11.79 per cent of its issued
share capital (exclusive of treasury shares). The shares are held on behalf of a
range of clients who are each the beneficial owner of a portion of the
shareholding. A breakdown of this interest between registered holders as
