Letter to Company Announcements Office


This letter is to notify you that, effective January 1, 2002, EquiServe Trust 
Company, N.A., successor transfer agent to First Chicago Trust Company of New 
York, is reappointed:

(i)    transfer agent, registrar and dividend paying agent with respect to the  
       Common Stock of Ford Motor Company ('Ford');

(ii)   transfer agent, registrar and dividend paying agent with respect to Ford 
       Series B Cumulative Preferred Stock ('Series B Preferred Stock') and     
       transfer agent, registrar and dividend paying agent with respect to the  
       depositary receipts representing an interest in depositary shares of     
       Series B Preferred Stock;

(iii)  transfer agent, registrar and paying agent with respect to the 9% Trust  
       Originated Preferred Securities of Ford Motor Company Capital Trust I, a 
       Delaware statutory business trust; and

(iv)   transfer agent, registrar, depositary and paying agent with respect to   
       depositary receipts formerly representing an interest in depositary      
       shares of Ford Series A Cumulative Convertible Preferred Stock and Ford  
       Holdings, Inc. Series A through Series D Cumulative Preferred Stock.
