DEARBORN, Mich., April 11, 2005 - Ford Motor Company announced today a series of
management changes expected to strengthen its North America Marketing, Sales &
Service organization.
Effective immediately, Steve Lyons, previously the company's vice president and
president, Ford Division, assumes responsibility as group vice president, North
America Marketing, Sales & Service. He will report to Greg Smith, Ford Motor
Company executive vice president and president, the Americas.
'Steve Lyons' strong sense of the marketplace, relationships with dealers and
ability to drive results will help us grow market share with our two highest-
volume divisions,' said Smith. 'His success in reaching record sales last year
of America's best-selling vehicle demonstrates the kind of leadership we want to
replicate more broadly.'
Lyons replaces Earl Hesterberg, who will leave to pursue other interests.
Lyons began his career with Ford in 1972 as a truck design engineer and
progressed through a series of product-related assignments before joining Ford
Division in 1982. Throughout the next 20 years, he held a number of positions in
marketing and sales, including advertising manager and general marketing manager
for Lincoln Mercury and general marketing manager and general sales manager for
Ford Division.
Succeeding Lyons as vice president and president, Ford Division, is Darryl
Hazel, who previously served as the company's vice president and president,
Lincoln Mercury. Hazel has been instrumental in the revitalization of Lincoln
Mercury. He will report to Lyons. Hazel joined the company in 1972. He served
as the division's general marketing manager from 1997 to 1999, just prior to
becoming vice president of Ford Customer Service Division.
Also reporting to Lyons will be Al Giombetti, who is named president, Lincoln
Mercury, succeeding Hazel. Giombetti joined Ford in 1981, and since, has held a
variety of positions within Lincoln Mercury, Ford Division and Ford Customer
Service Division. In his most recent role as general sales manager, Lincoln
Mercury, Giombetti was responsible for developing and implementing national
sales, production, distribution, incentive and field marketing strategies for
the two brands.
Cisco Codina continues in his current role as the company's vice president and
president, Ford Customer Service Division. He, too, will report to Lyons.
'The combined experience of Steve, Darryl, Cisco and Al, and the success each
has achieved throughout their careers, will make them a powerful team.' said
Smith. 'They are well respected professionals within the company and among the
external audiences they influence, including our dealer body. I have every
confidence that the continuity of their leadership will ensure that Ford's North
America, Marketing, Sales & Service organization delivers on its every goal,
objective and vision.'
